The Foundation hosts a number of events throughout the year showcasing Threadhead Records artists and also to raise much needed funds to provide an income source from which we are able to offer new grant funding. We are hosting a number of events during Jazz Fest, including Threadhead Thursday on Jazz Fest Eve, and the always popular Threadhead Patry.¬† Some events were co-hosted with other organizations that foster the culture of New Orleans, some were sponsored by generous businesses and individuals who have a particular interest in the City and all were supported by those who share our love and passion for all things Louisiana. The following is a snapshot of recent events…. we hope you joined in the fun!
Each year since 2005, Threadheads have conducted a charity raffle to benefit various non-profit organizations and causes in New Orleans. The raffle was initiated as part of the give-back philosophy adopted by Threadheads in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and in the years since, tens of thousands of dollars have been raised and distributed.¬†This year prizes include Jazz Fest and New Orleans memorabilia, gift vouchers, a New Orleans getaway, and music, music, music! The 2015 Raffle will benefit Threadhead Cultural Foundation, New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and children’s music clinics hosted by Silence is Violence and Shamarr Allen.
The inaugural Threadhead Thursday in April 2010 at City Park event saw hundreds of local residents and visitors to New Orleans enjoy a free concert on the eve of Jazz Fest under the stars of a beautiful night sky. We are pleased to again host this very special evening of music in 2015, with title sponsorship from our friends at Zatarains, and with assistance from City Park and Backbeat Foundation, and with funds from the Buddy Mann Memorial Grant. Don’t miss this concert on April 23, 2015.
No, it’s not a typo…. it’s the hottest ticket in town during Jazz Fest! Held each year on the Tuesday between Jazz Fest weekends, the enormously popular Patry features a huge line-up of New Orleans musicians as well as cameos by various surprise guests. The venue for the 2015 Patry is again at the Old Ironworks. Generous sponsorship from businesses and individuals, together with much sought after raffle items, will allow the Patry organizers to donate a substantial sum to Threadhead Cultural Foundation.
